Our Facilities

There is always something to do at Libbear Barton! We have activities for all the family whatever the weather.

Heated Indoor Pool

Our heated indoor swimming pool is open all year round, providing a warm, private space for families to swim whatever the season. Generously sized and maintained at a comfortable temperature, it’s ideal for relaxed lengths, family splash sessions or helping children build water confidence in a calm, enclosed setting.

Each property can book a dedicated two-hour private session per day, with slots available between 9am and 8pm. That means no sharing with other cottages, no crowded lanes, just your household enjoying the pool at your allotted time. It’s a simple system that ensures everyone gets proper, uninterrupted swim time during their stay.

Soft Play Edited-3.jpg

Soft Play

Our indoor soft play area gives younger guests a dedicated space to burn off energy whatever the weather. Designed with pre-school and early primary ages in mind, it’s a safe, enclosed environment with padded flooring, climbing shapes, crawl spaces and slides that encourage movement, balance and confidence.

It’s ideal for early mornings, rainy afternoons or that in-between moment before supper when energy levels are still high. For added convenience, the soft play adjoins the games room, so you can enjoy a game of pool while still keeping an easy eye on the children.

The Soft Play is available from 9am to 8pm each day.

The Animal Barn

Our on-site petting farm gives guests the chance to properly experience life on a smallholding. Meet our miniature donkeys, guinea pigs, chickens and runner ducks, and enjoy simple, hands-on interactions that children rarely get at home. Little ones can help collect eggs, watch the ducks waddle down to the water, and spend time gently handling the smaller animals under supervision.

It’s a relaxed, informal space designed for families to drop in and enjoy at their own pace. No queues, no crowds, just a safe and thoughtful environment where children can learn, build confidence around animals and spend meaningful time outdoors.

Like the pool, the sauna is used during your private two-hour pool session, giving your household exclusive access at your allocated time. Whether it’s easing tired legs, warming up after an autumn beach walk or simply carving out a moment of peace, it’s a small detail that makes a noticeable difference to the rhythm of your stay.

We are happy to recommend someone local who will make your event extra-special. We offer The Stables free of charge for those booking the whole site.

Boating Lake

Open from the Easter holidays through to October half term, our boating lake is ready for your very own mini expedition. Climb into the dinghy, push off from the bank and row your way around the island for a proper little adventure. It’s not quite Swallows and Amazons, but it’s not far off. A bit of teamwork on the oars, fresh Devon air in your lungs and the quiet thrill of charting your own course across the water. Simple, screen-free, and just the right amount of wild.

40 Acres to Explore

Libbear Barton is a 40 acre working farm.  Throughout the different seasons you can enjoy watching the tractors at work on the farm, sowing the seed or harvesting the crop.  Our beautiful lake is home to ducks, Canada geese and moorhens, with lots of babies in the Spring.  And there is nothing nicer than a quiet stroll around the lake in the early morning or at dusk when you might spot some deer, a bat or two or even the beautiful barn owl.  Just as in the Wind in the Willows, many swallows return each Spring from Africa to make their home at Libbear Barton.
